Shauna Myers

Shauna Myers was born in Silver Spring, MD, and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. She is a full-tuition academic scholar at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. While there, she studied abroad both in Seville, Spain, and Durban, South Africa. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies with a concentration in Africa, with minors in both Anthropology, Latin American, and Iberian Studies. She has shown continued commitment to Education Policy reform. Her repertoire includes several outreach initiatives including: working as a night-school adult literacy teacher for the Jamaica Movement and as a Youth Counselor at the Operation Restoration Christian School. She also worked as a teacher at the Franklin Military Academy and at Versan Educational Services. Ms .Myers also conducted an Independent research in several, low-income community, schools in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, from which she produced a 62-page thesis on The Impact of Classicism on Academic Performance. Most recently, she was selected as one of the 136 White House Interns out of a pool of over 7000 applicants, and was the only intern chosen to introduce the First Lady of the United States at a speaking engagement.
