Deon M. Lopez
Deon M. Lopez is the founder and current Executive Director of the Caribbean Association of Midwest America (CAMA), a not for profit organization established in 2006. CAMA is the organization that has emerged to unite Caribbean nationals living in Midwest America. The mission of CAMA is to foster economic and community empowerment, stronger commerce, trade, business, finance, and professional interests for Caribbean Americans throughout Midwest America, the United States and the Caribbean. Ms. Lopez is the publisher of the Midwest Caribbean Network, a newsletter that is distributed to 55,000 Caribbean or friends of the Caribbean. She is the Festival Director for the Chicago “Chitown” Caribbean JerkFest to celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month. In October 2010, CAMA will launch the Miss Midwest Caribbean Scholarship Pageant to emphasize that “Caribbean women are brains beyond beauty.”
